Corrections to 3/15/10 newsletter

March 16, 2010

Dear Kim,

Yesterday's newsletter correctly listed the "Finding the Stories in History" event at the Wayland Library in our Events section, but provided the wrong day for the listing in the introduction.  That talk will be Thursday at the Library.  The complete listing is below.

Thursday, March 18, Finding the Stories in History, Wayland Library, 7:30pm.  Author Jacqueline Greene will be at the Library talking about how historical research fuels her books. Ms. Greene is the author of the new "American Girl" series about a young Jewish immigrant named Rebecca Rubin.  The six-book series is set in 1914 New York City when immigrants flooded into America.  Ms. Greene has written more than 30 fiction and non-fiction books for young readers, many of which have received national awards and recognition. In nearly every fiction book, a little-known piece of history sparks the plot. Her books are set in many varying places:  from Rembrandt's home in Amsterdam in 1654 to 1500s Barcelona when the Inquisition ruled with an iron fist.  She uses libraries, museums, on-site visits, personal interviews, and the Internet to do research.  In every case, sleuthing in historical records provides grist for the imagination mill as the history she uncovers is turned into a character's story.  Co-sponsored with the Wayland Historical Society.  (This program is suitable for adults or older teens; Ms. Greene will be at the library for a children's program on the Rebecca Rubin series and doll on April 22.)

Also, our link to the email address for more information on the Holistic Moms Network didn't work.  The correct link is below:

A new chapter of the Holistic Moms Network, called the Metrowest Boston chapter, is forming in Wayland.  The Holistic Moms Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting moms with an interest in natural health and mindful parenting.  Our chapter will hold monthly meetings on a variety of topics including organic food, breastfeeding, massage therapy, alternative health, toxins in our environment, and positive discipline. In addition, we will be forming a lending library and organizing playgroups for moms with babies and preschoolers.  The local chapter welcomes moms (including parents, grandparents, would-be parents, or anyone interested in holistic living) from the MetroWest and the surrounding areas to join us for an open house on Wednesday, April 7 at Lumina at Longfellow, 522 Boston Post Road, Wayland, 6-8pm.  For more information email Jhuma Biswas or call 408-667-2680.

Please feel free to forward this email to friends and neighbors.   If you have suggestions or information to add to the website or future newsletter, please email us.

Sincerely,
