Tuesday, November 17, Writing on the Wall: Remembering the Berlin Wall, Wayland Library, 7:30pm

About a week after the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Wayland resident John Michalczyk will screen the latest of his conflict resolution films, “Writing on the Wall: Remembering the Berlin Wall,” at the library on Tuesday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Raytheon Room. The film was created by a talent team that included his wife, Susan A. Michalczyk, as scriptwriter and son, John Michalczyk III, as Production Assistant in Berlin. The Berlin Wall held both real and metaphorical meanings, its presence physically dividing East and West Berlin, while symbolically representing Communist oppression. The film shot on location in Berlin, captures the personal narratives of both leaders and citizens in the political power struggle.  Through interviews with those who lived through these challenging times of the Cold War, the film focuses on remembrance and reassessment.
