Boston Globe 10/18/09: Wayland puts NStar on notice over tree pruning. Despite its frustration with NStar’s work in town, the board voted 4-1 to allow the utility company to continue its work on Rice Road. But there was new guidance – there must be a town official present for the remainder of the project, and that official will have the authority to revoke NStar’s permit should any cutting get out of hand, and the old rules, which called for less pruning around wires, would be reinstated for the rest of the work.

Was NStars effort refused on sycamore road the other night when I lost power for 10 hours because a tree fell on the wires?
Good to hear. A year ago NStar was pruning North Wayland and was hacking away at the trees recklesly, seemingly with no specific supervision. They mocked at resident concern. Their excessive trimming put a quick hurt on some long time growth and character.
