‘Wayland A-Z’: ‘P’ is for ‘Pequod House’

Wayland Town Crier 8/13/09: ‘Wayland A-Z’: ‘P’ is for ‘Pequod House’. Imagine an old four-horse yellow stage coach pulling up in front of the Pequod House, a famous tavern in the center of town where the Public Safety Building now stands.

The Pequod House was one of the favorite inns on the route from Sudbury to Stony Brook in Weston. This landmark occupied one of the most prominent sites in the town, and the arrival of a coach bringing mail, passengers and supplies was the big event of the day as townsfolk gathered to greet it.
