Saturday, September 12, Lyme Disease: Under Our Skin, Wayland Library, 10:30am

Lyme Disease-“Under Our Skin”:  The award winning documentary, “Under Our Skin,” will be shown at the library on Saturday, August 15, at 10:30am.  A gripping tale of microbes, medicine & money, the film investigates the untold story of Lyme disease, an emerging epidemic larger than AIDS.  Each year thousands of patients go undiagnosed, are misdiagnosed, or are often told that their symptoms are "all in their head."  Following the stories of patients and physicians fighting the disease, the film brings into focus a haunting picture of the health care system and a medical establishment sometimes willing to put profits ahead of patients. The screening will be followed by a question and answer period with Wayland resident Connie Bean, author of Beating Lyme.
