Relay for Life Volunteers needed

American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Weston-Wayland. Join us to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost and fight back against a disease that has taken too much! The youth of Weston and Wayland have been working very hard to make a difference in the fight against cancer through Relay, but we need YOU to help us make this event a total success!

Chaperone Team: We are looking for volunteers, 25 years or older, to help us communicate with and manage the 300+ Chaperones we will have at Relay. A few individuals are needed to help between now and the May 30 Relay and a significant number of volunteers are needed for the night of Relay; checking in Chaperones, doing wrist-band checks, and keeping an eye on the youth to ensure a fun and safe event.

General Relay facts for parents and faculty members: Each participant must register online, pay a $10 commitment fee and raise at least $100 for the fight against cancer. May 13 is a Mandatory Chaperone Meeting. Each Team Captain and at least one Chaperone must attend this meeting in order for the team to be invited to spend the night at Relay. Youth participants who do not turn in a Youth Waiver Form (to be signed by their legal guardian), and teams that do not turn in their Chaperone Agreement Forms, by May 22 will not be allowed to spend the night at Relay. Each team is required to recruit their own Chaperones, one for every five youth – at all times, 25 years or older. Shifts are recommended!

All cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer) are invited to be honored at Relay! To receive a t-shirt and gift, and to attend a special dinner reception, please register online or contact Ashley (contact information below).

Questions, concerns, comments, ideas and to volunteer, contact Ashley Abelson-James, American Cancer Society, (781) 314-2608.
