Students learn important self-defense tactics

Wayland Town Crier 5/14/09: Students learn important self-defense tactics. According to figures released by the U.S. Department of Justice, a woman is sexually assaulted every two minutes somewhere in the U.S. This does not mean, however, that the woman has to become a victim. For approximately 60 high school girls, all juniors at Wayland High School, this is a message that has been pounded home. Almost literally. That is because the young women have completed a 12-hour elective at the school titled Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), as part of a nationwide program to teach realistic self-defense tactics and techniques.
