Preview of March 30th BOS meeting

A preview of the Board of Selectmen meeting for 3/30 from Town Administrator Fred Turkington:

A reminder that the Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Large Hearing Room in Town Building.  The meeting begins with a public hearing on the application for a beer and wine license for Benson’s II.

At 8:00 p.m., the Board will conduct the Warrant Hearing for the Annual Town Meeting and Special Town Meeting.  Representatives of town boards and petitioners present articles at town meeting have been asked to attend the hearing, as well as the Town Moderator and town counsel.  The hearing is an opportunity for residents to ask both procedural and substantive questions, clarify information presented in the Warrant, and request additional information.  The expanded format of the hearing is designed to minimize such questions at town meeting, leaving more time for debating the merits of the articles.  The format is among the recommendations of a temporary study committee charged with proposing ideas to increase attendance at town meeting.

After the hearing, the selectmen will discuss town meeting logistics and determine positions on those articles postponed for comment on March 9th pending comments at the Warrant Hearing.
