Preview of Board of Selectmen’s meeting – February 23, 2009

State Senator Scott Brown will be present to provide an update on the current legislative session and to respond to questions from the selectmen regarding the prospects for state aid and passage of the package of municipal reforms and relief, including local option taxes.

The Board will review and discuss the recommendation of the Finance Committee to place a debt exclusion override question on the April 7, 2009 Town election ballot.  The proposed question would finance Town and school building repairs, purchase an ambulance and equipment for the advanced life support/paramedic program, and fund design services for the high school rehabilitation project.  Due to expiring debt issues, there is no net tax impact should the Board place the question on the ballot and voters approve it.

Selectmen will also consider whether to withhold certain articles submitted for Annual Town Meeting and a projected ordering of the warrant.  Six articles were submitted for Special Town Meeting; the Board will consider the same questions.
