Boston Globe 1/29/09: Towns finding ways to save by sharing. Selectmen in Sudbury and Wayland have met recently to discuss additional opportunities for regionalization, especially in the areas of recreation, transfer stations for solid waste, developing clean energy sources, and library services. The towns have a framework for cooperation in the sewage-treatment facility they have shared over the past two decades. Officials in the two towns are trying to determine whether existing resources could work better in tandem. For instance, coordinating the town’s two libraries for the maximum number of hours available to patrons.
