Thursday, February 12, Fundraiser for Adrian Gomes’ Family, 8 Barney Hill Rd., 7-9pm

On Thursday, February 12th from 7-9 PM, Jane Vanelli will be hosting a fundraiser for Adrian Gomes in her home at 8 Barney Hill Rd., Wayland.  Adrian has coached many hundreds of Wayland children over the past 20 years through Park and Rec and is a Wayland institution. Adrian’s 16 year old daughter Alex recently underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant at the Dana Farber after suffering a cancer relapse. The family is struggling to meet day to day costs as she remains hospitalized. Parking, meals, gas and lost income really take a toll on a family who are already coping with the emotional devastation of  a critically ill child.

Kellie LaPierre has generously offered to host a Silpada jewelry party, but this is one with a twist. Kellie will donate all of her profits to the Gomes family and Jane has arranged for a friend who is a jeweler to buy back gold for cash on the spot. According to today’s Wall Street Journal, gold is selling for $853/oz. I recently attended such a party and made a few hundred dollars for some solo earrings, some kinked and broken chains and a class ring from a relative I never met. You can donate all or part of your “found money”, or purchase beautiful, contemporary Silpada jewelry and the proceeds will go to help the Gomes family. Take a look at Kellie’s website to get in the proper frame of mind – www.mysilpada.com/kellie.lapierre

Lavin’s Liquor has generously offered to supply refreshments. This event is open to all, so bring a friend, tell a neighbor…Please RSVP by February 9, and indicate whether you will be bringing jewelry to sell so the jeweler has enough cash on hand! In the meantime, dig into those jewelry boxes for mate-less earrings, broken necklaces, gifts from long-ago sweethearts and baubles from the bubble. Turn your forgotten treasures into real help for Adrian and his family – he has given so much to our kids and this community over the years and this is a great way to show our appreciation and gratitude.

Please RSVP to jvanelli@comcast.net , and spread the word!
