The Wayland Police Department would like to remind residents of our free program of Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspection.  Each year thousands of children are killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes.  Many of these injuries or deaths would have been prevented had the child been properly secured in a child passenger safety seat.

 The effectiveness of a properly installed child restraint system is impressive.  Just consider the following three statistics:

1. Child restraint systems are 71% effective in reducing deaths for infants in passenger seats.
2. They are 54% effective in reducing toddler deaths.
3. They reduce the need for hospitalization by 69%.
   

The Wayland Police Department has a certified child safety seat technician, Officer Jennifer Ordway, who is available by appointment to properly install child safety seats for Wayland residents.  If you have questions about your child safety seat needs, you may contact her at 508-358-1950 or via email at jordway@waylandpolice.com.
