Elder care specialists in panel discussion at Traditions of Wayland

Traditions of Wayland will sponsor a panel discussion by elder care specialists to provide information for seniors, their families, and realtors on the complex issues that seniors face, particularly in this economic environment, in downsizing to a smaller residence, or moving to an independent or assisted living community.

The session, "When Remaining in One’s Home is No Longer a Viable Option for Seniors," will be conducted from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16 at Traditions of Wayland, 10 Green Way, Wayland.

The panel will include five professionals who specialize in distinct but complimentary areas that impact seniors’ decisions about moving from their current homes into a senior community.

Participants will include William Brisk, an elder care attorney at the Law Office of William Brisk; James Thompson, a certified financial advisor at Village Financial Partners; Sally Kaitz, a geriatric care manager from Kaitz & Siegal Geriatric Care Management; and Joy Camp and Natalie Zaremba, principals of C&Z Transitions LLC, a senior move management and home downsizing company.

Pamela Crane, community sales director for Traditions of Wayland, will be the panel moderator.

The panel will use a case study of an elderly couple who wants to move but needs help with a variety of issues in this economic environment including: (1) how to determine the current value of their assets, (2) steps to take to preserve assets, (3) how the current economic situation can affect their original plans for distributing the assets of their estate, (4) how to find a senior community that best meets their needs, (5) how to downsize a lifetime of possessions, and (6) how to manage the many and different details involved in such a move.

The discussion will include a presentation from each panelist who will describe how they could help this couple. A question-and-answer period will follow.

To register for the session or for more information call 508-358-0700. The session is free but seating is limited.
