Mass High Tech 1/23/09: Adva Mobile salutes independent artists with social network app. The days of musicians selling demo tapes out of the trunk of their car are gone, and musicians are moving online to gain exposure and engage fans. MySpace and sites like it have provided an Internet-based venue for artists, but a Wayland company wants to take the music one step further — into the mobile realm. Adva Mobile Corp. recently launched the first version of a mobile social networking application designed to help independent musicians connect with fans using mobile handsets — devices that, unlike laptops, are frequently taken to live shows without a second thought.
