Living with Trauma, Seeking Answers: One Family’s Quest for Accountability and Justice, November 28

November 28, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In March 2015, Needham resident Susan Altman learned that her sister Stacy had been found dead in a bathtub in her home in Denver. In investigating the death, a forensic pathologist concluded that the cause and manner of Stacy’s death could not be determined. Susan, several other family members, and some of Stacy’s friends strongly suspected that there was more to the story and began a years-long campaign to convince public officials to further investigate Stacy’s cause of death. Ultimately it took seven years for the case to be brought to trial and for Stacy’s husband to be found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Susan will join us to talk both about her experiences in advocating for justice for Stacy and her experience moving through the world as a trauma survivor. We hope you will be able to join us to hear her story and her reflections.

Please join the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable on Tuesday, November 28th at 7:00 PM, in person at the Goodnow Library, 21 Concord Road, Sudbury and on Zoom

NBC’s Dateline featured this case in an episode called The Sisterhood that aired on September 30, 2022. You can read more about that program here. Please note that the information includes some difficult discussion about strangulation and homicide.
