Wayland Town Crier 8/27/09: Head of Wayland’s new DPW has big plans. The director of Wayland’s first Department of Public Works has big plans, proposing several new projects for the former town departments under its umbrella – highway, water, landfill and parks. In his “goals and objectives” for the current fiscal year, Don Ouellette has submitted to the town a comprehensive list of actions to be taken. Among them are closing out the old landfill area; a review of the new “pay-as-you-throw” (PAYT) program; completion of the Stonebridge Road project and development of a standard specification for roadways and sidewalks; incorporation of a five- to 10-year capital improvement plan and an upgrade of equipment for the town’s water system; and a proactive tree maintenance program.
