Preview of the Board of Selectmen Meeting, Monday, December 7 from Town Administrator Fred Turkington

The next regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen will be held on Monday, December 7th beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Town Building. The meeting will begin with a special presentation by Fire Chief Robert Loomer celebrating the retirement of Deputy Chief Ken Hart. The fire chief will also introduce Vinny Smith, who has been appointed deputy chief, as well as those fire officers promoted through the ranks and the town's newest firefighter/EMT. 
 
Following the ceremony, selectmen will review the proposed FY11 budgets submitted by the Fire Department, Police Department, and joint communications center. 
 
At 8:00 p.m., the Board of Assessors will present information regarding property values and the estimated tax rate. Selectmen will be asked to vote on whether to establish a split tax rate for commercial property or maintain the single rate employed for many years.
 
The Board will continue deliberations and reach a decision on the liquor license application of P & P Liquors for a full liquor store to be located at 302 Commonwealth Road. 
 
Later in the evening, selectmen will review correspondence, consider the consent calendar, and discuss projected December meeting agenda items. The Board will review and approve the proposed schedule and timeline for the Annual Town Election and Annual Town Meeting before entering a brief executive session related to pending litigation.
 
The meeting will be held on the Large Hearing Room beginning at 7:00 p.m.
