Sunday, November 15, “Beyond Belief”, First Parish Church, Weston, 5pm

When Susan Retik and Patti Quigley lost their husbands to the terrorists who struck the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, they found meaning and understanding from the tragedy in an unlikely place.  "Beyond Belief" tells the story of how these two widows left their comfortable suburban American homes to make the journey to the remote villages of Afghanistan. Through coming to understand the desperate conditions in the nation that sheltered the terrorists, the women formed an unexpected bond with women half a world away. Retik and Quigley tell their story in the documentary "Beyond Belief," sharing their personal journeys from terrible grief to deeds of loving kindness. The organization they founded, Beyond the 11th, is devoted to promoting deeper cross-cultural understanding among widows who have been affected by terrorism and war. "Beyond Belief" will be shown on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. at First Parish Church, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Retik will be in attendance to answer questions after the film.  Hosted by the Weston-Wayland Interfaith Action Group.  For more information visit www.beyondthe11th.org
