PATRIOTIC LUNCHEON WITH POPULAR HONKY TONK PIANO PLAYER:  Celebrate the red, white and blue at our Patriotic Luncheon on Wednesday, July 1 at Noon.  Our menu will include barbecued pulled pork, pulled chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, rolls watermelon, desserts.  The amazing honky tonk piano player Gary Landgren will perform. Reservations are required ($7 per person). 

CHILDREN’S HOLIDAY SHOPPE CRAFT WORKSHOP:  Wednesday, July 15, 10am-11:30am.  For over 20 years kindergarten through 5th graders have enjoyed this special December event.  There will be two summer crafts workshops (July 15 and August 12) to prepare. One does not need a specific skill to join us – just lots of holiday spirit.  There will be various work stations each  featuring a different project.  Come alone or bring a friend to help.   A Soup’s On will follow the July 15th craft workshop at noon.

SOUPS ON: Wednesday, July 15, Noon/  Join us for the popular “Soup’s On”.  Enjoy a bowl of soup, sandwich, coffee and dessert for $2.00 per person.  Reservations required  *Come early and join the fun at the Children’s Holiday Shoppe Craft Workshop.

FREE  POETRY READING with Dr. Eugene Narrett
Thursday, July 9th at 7:00pm
Professor and published poet Eugene Narrett, PhD will read from his most recent work, “On The Way To The World To Come:.  This free event will be held in the Senior Center at 7pm.  Please sign up so we can plan refreshments accordingly. (*Dr. Narrett will be offering a 4 week course on Elizabethan Poetry at the COA in September.)

ANNUAL SUMMER BARBECUE featuring Singer/Songwriter/Musician: David Polansky
Wednesday, August 5, $7.00
Join us for our “Cook-out, Eait-in” barbecue in the Hearing Room.  The menu will include barbecue chicken, hot dogs, salads and Strawberry shortcake!  Singer David Polansky will be joining us with his keyboard/trumpet.  This is a popular event so make your reservations early.

BETTER BALANCE, LIVING STRONGER
Mondays, 9:30-10:30am
The next session of Better Balance will begin Monday, July 6.  This is a 3 week course only ($19).  Have fun while learning to improve your balance and increase strength. Using balls, bands and weights, improve your posture, flexibility, mobility, stability, breath, endurance to promote independence.  Preregistration required.

GENEALOGY MEETS TUESDAYS
If you are interested in research techniques and the study of family ancestry and history, join this group that now meets on Tuesdays at 1:00pm at the Senior Center.

MAH JONG  is held Mondays at 1:00pm at the Senior Center.  If you know how to play, join us.  If you have thought about playing and would like to learn, instruction is available.  This is a rummy type game played with tiles. 

MOVIES are shown in the Wayland Senior Center twice monthly. Showtime is 12:30pm. Popcorn and cold drinks are provided from our self-serve hospitality cart. It’s all complimentary! Bring a friend, and/or bring your lunch.   The next movie is scheduled for July 10.  The new release “MAN ON WIRE” will be shown.  (Documentary of Philippe Petit’s artful but illegal caper to walk a metal cable strung between the Twin Towers of NYC’s World Trade Center.  The detailed plan was captivating.  Brilliant reviews.

BRIDGE for ADVANCED BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE
If you have basic skills and enjoy the game of bridge, consider joining this friendly group  who simply enjoy the opportunity to play and learn from each other.  Frequently there is an instructor who attends.  There is no fee for this program.  Registration is not required.
Players convene at 9am every Friday morning in the Senior Center.

TAI CHI with Robin Natanel
FREE “Try It” Tai Chi class on Wed., June 10 from 10:30-11:30am. Learn to use the Tai Chi form to increase your physical balance and  "sense" of balance. Tai Chi allows you to physically, mentally and emotionally  feel YOUR flow aligning with the flow of nature. The class begins with music and meditation, some Qi Qong breathing techniques, Temple exercises for flexible joints and strength, then the Tai Chi form itself.  Class adapts to the participant’s individual needs.  Tai Chi can lower blood pressure, improve balance and reduce pain.
The next Tai Chi session will begin June 24 (10:30-11:30am, Hearing Room).  The fee is $20 for the 4 week session (or $8.00 class if you opt not to register for the 4 week program.

LOIS’ FIT FOR THE FUTURE   Tuesday & Thursday, 10—11a.m., Hearing Room, $2.00/class. Lois Leav, Instructor. Stretching, toning, aerobic fitness and weight work done to music. This  class adapts to all fitness levels. Exercises can be modified to meet individual needs.  Pay only when you come. This is enjoyable way to exercise and meet new people.  No pre-registration required.

Join us on when the Tall Ships will once again parade into historic Boston Harbor. On arrival, you’ll board the Provincetown II cruise vessel for an exciting 1 ½ hour narrated Boston Harbor Cruise to view the world’s largest and grandest sailing ships. The Provincetown II is a superb vessel, equipped with food and beverage service as well as large decks to view the flotilla.
