• Great Presenters: Let’s Keep Shooting. Photographer and Wayland resident Sachin Sawe believes that the more photos we shoot, the more we learn.  In this presentation, he’ll discuss his work and share some techniques in seeing creatively.  A software engineer by profession and the son of an artist, he hopes that participants will be inspired to pick up their cameras and start shooting.  Register.  Tuesday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m.
• Author Talk: The Founding Mothers of NPR. Journalist Lisa Napoli’s fourth book looks at four extraordinary women who became icons of journalism as their voices defined National Public Radio.  Based on extensive interviews and calling on the author’s deep connections in news and public radio, Susan, Linda, Nina, and Cokie is as beguiling and sharp as its formidable subjects.  Online only.  Register.  Wednesday, November 2 at 4 p.m.
• Going to Extremes: the Globe’s Most Adventurous Outposts. The author of ten books, award-winning travel journalist Peter Mandel will show slides of his most extreme travel experiences: surviving a coup in Ecuador, visiting a ‘city’ of penguins at the South Pole, fishing for piranha on Brazil’s Rio Negro, floating in the Goodyear blimp, and camping in the African bush.  Along the way, he’ll deliver the scoop on how travel turns to prose in today’s magazine and newspaper pages.  Online only, in collaboration with the Woburn Public Library.  Register.  Wednesday, November 2 at 7 p.m.
• Friends of the Wayland Library Book Sale. It’s back, for one day only in our Meeting Room.  Come shop our huge selection of children’s materials, and lots of adult and special gift books, too!  Most books are 50¢–$1.  Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Exhibit: Vital Vibrant Visible. Subtitled “Local Indigenous Identity Through Portraiture,” this exhibit features photographs by Sara Lyons of indigenous people who live and work in our region.  Participants posed in a location meaningful to them, and in a manner of their choosing.  The resulting images, paired with some of their personal statements, will be on view in the Library’s meeting room until November 28.

• Outdoor Storytime with Ms. Leslie. Join Ms. Leslie outdoors for storytime! Children and their caregivers will listen to stories, sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. We will meet on the lawn behind the library. In the case of inclement weather we will hold the storytime in the Children’s Room. Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Enter our 4th annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Compete for best carved or best decorated pumpkin! We will have contests for kids ages 3-11, teens ages 12-18, and adults ages 19 and up.

There are prizes! Here is the timeline:
