• Flooding of the Sudbury River. Join us for an informative panel discussion about the Sudbury River and the episodic flooding by this slow-flowing yet powerful river.  Panelists are Alison Field-Juma of OARS, a non-profit to benefit our local rivers; Brian Donahue, Associate Professor of American Environmental Studies at Brandeis U.; and Tom Sciacca, longtime and passionate advocate for the wetlands and waterways of Wayland. Co-sponsored by the Wayland Historical Society.  No registration needed; check our Events menu for the Zoom link.  Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m.
• Great Presenters: Medical Simulation—The Present and Future of Medical Education. Over the last 20 years, medical simulation has become a standard component of medical training. Using a wide array of resources, including technologically-advanced robots, medical professionals can now learn and practice without risks to themselves or their patients.  Explore this exciting and innovative field with Wayland native Dr. Andrew Eyre, emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Medical Director for the hospital’s STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation.  Register through our Events menu.  Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.
• Write Letters and Swap Stationery. April is National Card & Letter Writing Month.  Stop by the Raytheon Room for some good old-fashioned letter-writing time.  Bring your unused stationery to swap, use the blank cards we’ll provide, or make your own using our supplies. One postage stamp provided to the first 20 attendees.  No registration required.  Bring your stationery donations to the event or drop them off at the Reference Desk between Saturday 4/9-Thursday 4/14. Leftover stationery will be donated, recycled, or repurposed for Library programs.  Thursday, April 14, 3-5 p.m.
• New Round of ESOL Discussion Groups. There are two groups, each meeting twice a month April-June, one on Tuesdays 1-2 p.m., the other on Fridays 9-10 a.m.  They are best for intermediate or advanced speakers and are limited to 10 per group.  Students will read a short story or article in class, then talk about it. It’s a great way to improve your English and maybe make some new friends.  Contact mwright@minlib.net to sign up.
• Cool New Things II. The OBD II scanner can inform you why your Check Engine light is on, tell if your car can pass the emissions test, and provide a live data feed on how your car is running.  Enchroma indoor glasses are specifically designed to assist with all ranges of Deutan colorblindness.  The Stud Finder Sensor/Scanner detects not only wood wall studs, but metal pipes, rebar, and live AC wiring as well.

• Storytime with Ms. Carly. Join Ms. Carly in the library for storytime! Children and their caregivers will listen to stories, sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. We will meet in the Children’s Room. For babies through preschool age children, with caregivers. • Storytime with Obie the Dog. Children will listen to dog stories and have a chance to visit with Obie, a beautiful Samoyed. Obie will be accompanied by his owner Helen. FOR ELEMENTARY AGE CHILDREN

• Seeking Lego Creations for an April Lego Exhibit. If your child would like to display a small lego creation in our glass display case downstairs, please email Pam at pmccuen@minlib.net  We will install the lego display for the month of April. (Display case locks; children will get their lego creations back at the end of the month.)
• STEAM TEAM: Catch the Wind! Join Ms. Pam to make a whirligig, a parachute and a kite. Test out how your creations catch the wind! We will meet in the Raytheon Room.
