ADULT SERVICES

  • Implicit Bias Training. As an initial step towards addressing the issue of racism in schools, we invite you to attend an implicit bias training by a certified Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging consultant. The goal is to enhance our awareness of possible unconscious bias and white privilege.  We intend this free Zoom event to be the first in a series of community-driven efforts to support our schools and students, and to advance equity, inclusion and belonging in town. All are welcome to attend.  To RSVP, please email Dovie King at dking@wayland.ma.us. Co-sponsored by the Wayland Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee; the Wayland Interfaith Leaders Association; the Wayland Free Public Library; the Wayland Children and Parent Association; the Wayland Community for Social Justice Policing Group; and concerned Wayland residents.  Monday, January 31, 6-8:30pm.
  • Great Presenters: The World’s Emergency Room. Dr. Michael VanRooyen is the Director of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative at Harvard University.  He is also the Chairman of Emergency Medicine at both Mass General and Brigham & Women’s Hospitals.  What’s more, he has worked in humanitarian relief settings for over 30 years, in most of the world’s active war zones.  He will discuss the radical changes in the way the global community provides emergency humanitarian aid for the world’s most vulnerable populations, and highlight major innovations in the field of humanitarian relief.  Register through the Events menu on our home page.  Thursday, February 3 at 7 p.m.
