ADULT SERVICES

  • Gentle Yoga with Nancy Wind. Gentle yoga is for everyone.  Nancy, a 200-hour yoga instructor, will help you release stresses from your day with gentle poses–moving slowly, breathing deeply, and building strength and balance.  It’s an excellent way to prepare for a good night’s sleep.  Register through our Events menu.  Monday, January 10 at 7 p.m.
  • Great Presenters: Rachel Rice – Aligning Your Energy to Your Highest Purpose. Our Great Presenters series for 2022 kicks off with a fascinating program.  Sometimes, even when we are clear on what we want to do and who we want to be, our energies get in our way–as procrastination, anxiety, fear, or self-discouragement.  This program can help clarify your idea of your highest vibration self and show you how to align your energy with your purpose.  You may even feel happier, lighter, and more joyful.  Rachel Rice is a corporate executive turned peak performance consultant.  Register through our Events menu.  Tuesday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Author Talk: The Baby Boomers Guide to TrustsElder law and estate planning expert Harry S. Margolis offers practical advice and easy-to-follow examples from his 30+ years of experience to help you know when to use a trust in your estate planning, how to manage it as trustee, and your rights as a beneficiary.   Harry has been recognized as one of the top 100 attorneys in New England.  Register through our Events menu.  Wednesday, January 12 at 7 p.m.
  • ESOL Discussion Groups. Two new groups, for intermediate or advanced ESOL speakers, meeting twice a month starting January 7 and 11, through March.  Tuesdays 1-2 p.m. and Fridays 10-11 a.m.  Discussions will be about a short story or article.  This is a great way to improve your English and maybe make new friends.  No preparation needed, but you must register by emailing mwright@minlib.net or calling 508-358-2311 and asking for M. J.  Limited to five students, but there will be a waitlist.
  • Evening Book Group. The Liar’s Dictionary by Eley Williams.  In this spirited, hilarious debut novel celebrating the joy and absurdity of language, a disgruntled dictionary compiler starts slipping his own words into the text.  More than a century later, his story converges with that of a young publishing intern, as they both grapple with finding their place in the world.  Copies available at the library.  Contact btuttle@minlib.net for the Zoom link.  Monday, January 3 at 7 p.m.

FOR BABIES, TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS 

  • Weekly Facebook Live Storytimes with Ms. Carly. Join Ms. Carly for a Facebook Live storytime on the Wayland Public Library’s Facebook page. Babies through preschool age are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. Tuesdays, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Bedtime Storytime on Facebook Live. Join Ms. Carly for a Virtual Bedtime Storytime on the Wayland Public Library’s Facebook page. Wear your pajamas and watch with a favorite stuffed animal if you want! Best for ages 0-5, but all kids and their caregivers are welcome. Wednesday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Storytime on Zoom. Join Ms. Pam for stories songs, puppets, and crafts through zoom.  This interactive storytimes encourages language development, socialization and fun. For ages 2.5 to 5 years.   • 4th/5th Grade Book Club. We will be discussing Across the Pond by Joy McCullough. We will meet upstairs in the Teen Space in the Mezannine.   • Magic the Gathering: Teen Game Night. Play Magic the Gathering with your friends! Bring your own Magic Cards or use ours. Experienced players and newbies welcome. For teens in grades 6 and up. Please register HERE or online from our eventkeeper calendar. Friday, Jan. 14, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
  • Teen Trivia Afternoon. Teens are invited to play a few rounds of trivia and compete for prizes. Play on your own or with a couple friends. Want to suggest some categories to be quizzed on? FOR FAMILIES

  • Story Walk: A Story for Small Bear. Families are invited to walk around the outside of the library and read the Story Walk of A Story for Small Bear by Alice McGinty. Kids can also take a Scavenger Hunt sheet to fill out while looking at the illustrations. Bring the completed sheet in to the Children’s Room for a sticker! The Story Walk will be hung in the windows of the library throughout the month of January.
