ADULT SERVICES

  • Wayland Woman Warriors in WWI. Meet the first women to enlist in the United States military, including three from Wayland. They were known as Yeomen(F) (F for female) in the Naval Reserve Force, little-known pioneers who were also the first generation of women to achieve full voting rights. Their accomplishments and struggles set the stage for the world we know today.  Presenter Jane Sciacca of the Wayland Historical Society has provided innumerable programs for the Society and the National Park Service.  Register through our Events page.  Sunday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
  • Domestic Violence and Human Rights. Although domestic violence is often seen as physical abuse, it includes various forms of coercive control designed to deprive the victim of basic human rights and liberties.  Join us for a discussion with Wayland experts on this important issue.  Presented by the Town of Wayland Human Rights, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee with co-sponsorship from the Wayland Public Library, the Lauren Dunne Astley Memorial Fund, the Sudbury Wayland Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable, and Survivors of Abuse Rising (SOAR) for Justice.  Register through our Events menu.  Tuesday, November 16 at 7 p.m.
  • SVNP 25th Anniversary Exhibit. The Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers intended to have this show a year ago but certain events intervened.  Now it’s finally on display throughout the month in the Raytheon Room, where you can see the stunning work of 14 fine local photographers.
  • Scan Many Pages at Once.  Thanks to a recent upgrade, you can now use our photocopier to scan lengthy documents to an email address. Just ask the librarian for the bypass key, drop your document (up to 50 pages) in the basket, and scan away to create a PDF.  No more laborious page-by-page scanning on the flatbed!
  • Or Scan Them At Home. …with our new portable scanner, the latest addition to our Library of Things.  Simply turn it on, scan your document, then plug it into the USB port on your computer with the included cord.  Open the pop-up folder as you would with any other device and you’ll find your document in JPEG format.  Included software allows you to convert to PDF or PNG, or merge documents.  Small, light, and easy to use.  Try it out!
