Wayland Cultural Council

The Wayland Cultural Council is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit showcasing the work of the Wayland Beautification group at the WCC display space in the Wayland Town Building.

Since its inception in 1998, Wayland Beautification has dedicated its efforts to beautifying highly visible areas of Wayland with garden spaces and trees. These talented volunteers are responsible for the planted barrels and new garden spaces which have brightened public spaces in our town.  Future projects include creating a drought-resistant garden at the Town Landfill, new plantings at the heater piece in front of the Villa Restaurant, and a Keep Wayland Tidy campaign.  The exhibit will run until the end of June.

Other Wayland groups interested in exhibiting in the WCC space should contact either Anna Laura Rosow (508-358-5537) or Margret Krakauer (508-358-2319).

For anyone interested in applying for a grant, the Wayland Cultural Council announces an October 16 deadline for organizations and individuals to apply for grants to support cultural activities in the community. The council receives funds each year from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), a state agency.

These grants can be used to support a variety of artistic and cultural projects that benefit the Wayland community – including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, as well as cultural workshops and lectures.

Application forms and additional information about the Local Cultural Council Program are available on the internet, see links below.  Applications are also available at the Wayland Town Building and the Wayland Public Library.
