Say Thanks On April 29th To Wayland Adults and High School Students For Their Volunteer Service

Everyone is welcome to join us in saying thanks to twelve adults and 75 high school students when they receive awards for their volunteer service on April 29 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the High School Little Theater. High School Principal Patrick Tutwiler will be the master of ceremonies. High school a cappella groups The Madrigals, The Muses and the T Tones will perform.

Adults will receive awards for their work running the little theater music concerts, in Girl Scouts, service in school organizations including the CAPA and WHSPO, coaching and providing medical care for kids’ sports teams, volunteering at Sunrise Assisted Living, tutoring at the high school academic center, starting the high school Community Service Leadership program, running environmental education programs, organ donation and more. These adults include: Allen Barker, Charnan Bray, Aida Gennis, Jay Harmon, James Karlson, Alan LaPierre, Judy Larson, Jackson Madnick, Amruta Mudambi, Paul Neustadt, Suzanne Tiberii, and Brud Wright.

The high school students receiving awards volunteered for more than 6000 combined hours during the past year. Students tutored, helped the homeless, did conservation work, rebuilt houses in New Orleans, Mississippi and Boston, cooked at soup kitchens and for Wayland Angels, did fundraising and food and clothing drives, participated in the Pan Mass challenge, were teachers and counselors for children in China, Boston and Wayland, worked in hospitals, volunteered with disabled and ill kids, volunteered at museums and the aquarium, as journalists and more.
