Wayland-Weston “Perry E Team” versus Methuen, October 1, 2006

Written by Dan Keating

The Wayland-Weston Perry E Team beat Methuen by a score of 19 to 0 for the team’s second victory of the season and second consecutive shut-out.  Daniel Keating broke away for a 40-yard touchdown run on the team’s first offensive possession behind the strong blocking of George Mead and Christian Smith, and Zach Falber scored the point-after on a run up the middle.  The second W-W touchdown came on a 30-yard reverse by Michael Connell that was set up by the blocking of Ben Dickstein and Charlie Kaye.  Ryan McNamara opened a hole for the team’s final score as Daniel Keating took the ball up the middle for a 10-yard touchdown run.  Ten other players ran the ball for the W-W team, featuring a 20-yard run by Liam Wrean and 5-yard runs by Peter Murray, Andrew Fennelly and Jonathan Eng.

The team overpowered Methuen on the defensive side of the ball as defensive tackles Jake Zane, Alijah Dotson and Joey Straube and linebackers Rusty Defina and Ben Dixson helped their teammates snuff out the offensive efforts of their opponent.  Ben Slater made a number of strong kick-offs for W-W, including a 20-yarder that was recovered by Ethan Stavisky.
