The Waste Water Management District Commission (WWMDC), which oversees the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) servicing the homes and businesses in the center of Wayland, is looking for a third member.

The current members are David Schofield, chair, and Fred Knight; BIll Prendergast is the executive officer.  The WWMDC is planning to build a new WWTP to replace the aging current one in order to provide capacity for the new Town Center and to meet new state and federal outflow requirements.  A third member is needed to bring the WWMDC to full strength and to make certain that a quorum can always be present to make timely decisions.  Expertise in wastewater regulations or engineering would be a plus, but the real need is a willingness to learn the basics and then participate in all aspects of the WWMDC work, which includes overseeing the operations of the current WWTP, monitoring fiscal status, setting rates, and planning for the future.  Monthly meetings are standard, but frequency may increase to twice/month during the upcoming construction of the new WWTP.  Joining the WWMDC would be a service to the town.  If you are interested, you can contact either member or Fred Turkington (508 358 7755).
