Default Developer Files Environmental Report for Big Project at Mahoney Garden Center Site

Steven Zieff filed the AMRAD environmental report required for the large 40B development he proposed at the site of Mahoney's Garden Center on Route 20

Copies are attached for your review. The AMRAD is in two parts, to reduce the size of the document.

With 89 bedrooms and 10,000 gallons of sewage per day, the impact on Pine Brook, the Sudbury River and the Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a key issue. Pine Brook is one of only two cold water streams in Wayland, and connects directly to the Sudbury River.

For more information on this oversized development, please contact us at ProtectWayland@Gmail.com

We sent a letter to the Mahoney family asking them to consider a smaller affordable housing project on this site, that matches the land and neighborhood -- without damaging Pine Brook.

Important update: Developer calls and says he wants to meet Wayland residents -- then cancels because he is "not prepared" !!!

The developer behind the huge apartment house proposal (Steven Zieff) called us a couple of weeks ago and asked for a meeting with Wayland residents to "discus your concerns". We agreed and spent quite a bit of time scheduling the best date and time, booked a room in the Town Building and arranged for WayCAM to broadcast the session so everyone in Wayland could see the discussion.

Last Friday Zieff suddenly reversed course. "We are not prepared." to meet with Wayland residents, he said. We asked him when he might be ready so we could reschedule. Maybe after the big Conservation Committee meeting on May 11? Zieff said he had no idea when he could be prepared.

No idea? If Zieff is prepared to present his project to the Wayland Conservation Commission and file his application with the Commonwealth, how can he NOT be prepared to talk to us?

Wayland Conservation Commission approves peer review of developer's ANRAD study

Some good news: the Wayland Conservation Commission voted to approve a peer review of the ANRAD filed by Steven Zieff, by an independent environmental expert. ProtectWayland.org also sent letters to MassDEP officials highlighting the threat to Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge; a copy is attached.
