Happy Hollow School students organize ‘Hike for Haiti’

Happy Hollow School students organize ‘Hike for Haiti’.Shortly after the devastating earthquake in Haiti on Jan. 12, Happy Hollow’s student council went to work brainstorming ways to help the Haitians. Each grade level designed their own ideas to help.

For Happy Hollow School, the disaster in Haiti wasn’t just a faraway event happening to people they didn’t know. Happy Hollow students knew that one of the school’s staff members, Guy Nicoles, has family in Haiti.

Nicoles’ niece and nephew were injured in the earthquake. Fortunately, according to him, “they’ll live.” Their main concern right now is finding food and water.

The Happy Hollow fourth-graders, with the guidance of their teachers – Ms. Chan, Ms. Devlin, Ms. Morrison and Mr. Moynihan – decided on a walk-a-thon on Feb. 2 to raise money.
