Boston Marathon: Running for two great causes

Wayland Town Crier 1/28/10: Boston Marathon: Running for two great causes. "I go between nerves and excitement," said Louise Corliss of Wayland, describing how she feels about running the Boston Marathon this year. She made the decision after completing a half-marathon on Oct. 4 at Hampton Beach, N.H., along with her friend and neighbor, Kerry Peterson. Both applied to run as part of charity teams. Corliss will run for the Alzheimer’s Association, as her mother, now living at Sunrise Assisted Living, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about a year-and-a-half ago. Peterson, whose husband was diagnosed with acute mylogenic leukemia (AML) and has been cancer-free for 10 years, will run for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
