Regional plan for emergency care system

Boston Globe 11/29/09: Regional plan for emergency care system. Thirteen cities and towns in Middlesex County have relied on an SUV from Emerson Hospital in Concord to provide paramedics and advanced life support during major medical emergencies since 1982. But that’s about to change. The hospital is phasing out its paramedic program by next fall and helping 10 of the communities to develop a new regional approach that would use two or three advance life support crews positioned strategically through the region. The communities in the new region are Acton, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Sudbury, and Weston. The other communities, Bedford, Westford, and Wayland, are not part of the regional program and are finding other ways to obtain paramedic services.
