This is a crucial week for the Town Center. Please see Board of Selectmen Chair, Steve Correia's message below.

WHY IS THIS WEEK SO IMPORTANT?
1) The Historic Commission meeting is Thursday night at 7:30 in the Town Building. Construction is slated to begin in November if the HDC will agree to issue the permit.

WHAT HAS CHANGED LEADING UP TO THIS MEETING?
1) The developer has provided copies of both the Stop & Shop lease and BofA project financing, agreed to demolish the existing structure immediately and file a building permit for the entire project as proof of their commitment to seeing this through as planned. These actions by the Developer fully address the HDC's concern the project could be abandoned prior to completion.

2) Wayland's Safety officials (Police Chief, Fire Chief, Chair of the Board of Selectmen) certified there would be significant road/traffic safety concerns if the roads are not upgraded at the start of the project. This Safety Certification eliminates the demand from the HDC that the roads not be changed until after the Center has been fully leased.

3) With both of these issues being addressed, there are no longer any "Historic District" related issues standing in the way of issuing a construction permit.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1) Please send an email to the members of the HDC urging them to cease the delay and issue the permit.

2) Attend the HDC meeting Thursday night, we must make our voices heard. Even if you have Curriculum night, please come after.

3) Write a letter to the Town Crier editor urging the HDC to stop delaying this project. Their concerns have been addressed and 83% of residents want our Center! Send your letter to "wayland@cnc.com".
