First Parish to sponsor 2nd Red Cross Blood Drive

First Parish to sponsor 2nd Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, November 11th, Veteran's Day, from 9am-2pm.

First Parish in Wayland, located at 50 Cochituate Rd at the intersections of Rtes 20 and 27, is sponsoring its 2nd Red Cross Blood Drive.  If you've never donated blood before, now is the time to try.  Donating blood only takes an hour, is pain-free and there are free snacks!  Not to mention, its one of the easiest things you can do to save a life.   Individuals with cancer, blood disorders, anemia and other illnesses, not to mention emergencies, all rely on blood donations.  Yet only 5% of the eligible population donates in a given year. Please consider donating this Veteran's Day, simply go to http://www.givelife.org.

Would you like to donate, but you have young children who need looking after?

As November 11th is a school holiday, free childcare is being offered for children between the ages of 4 and 12 in the Parish House behind the church building.  If you would like to take advantage of the free childcare, please send an e-mail to peacockmk@gmail.com.

Are you interesting in donating but you're only 16?

Individuals who are 16 years old or older are eligible.  If you are 16, you can now donate with parental consent thanks to a new law passed by Governor Patrick in September of 2008. Please print out the form from this website link, have your parents sign it and bring to the drive.

To make an appointment, please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or go on-line to www.givelife.org.  Questions, contact Mary Kay Peacock.
