Mr. Mesnick has very authoritatively stated on at least two occasions in public that the Attorney General of Massachusetts has an application for a 40B project for the Raytheon site and is soon going to approve it. The Attorney General has no role in approving or disapproving 40B projects. Projects are subject to the approval of the local permit granting authority. In Wayland, the Zoning Board of Appeal is the permit granting authority. One of four state agencies has the authority to issue letters of elegibility, but these are merely prerequisites to applying for a permit. This type of mistake by Mr. Mesnick leads me to question the reliability of the other statements that he has made about the status and intentions of the site owner to proceed with the 40B project. Perhaps he could provide on this forum some means by which an independent person could verify his claims about this.
