Default Thank-You to Wayland's Emergency Services During the Floods

I'd like to take a momemnt to say Thank-You to Way;land's Emergency Service personnel for their dedication and hard work during the recent floods. The Public Safety Dispatchers have answered hundreds (and possibly thousands) of calls concerning road closures, have provided alternative routes when possible for motorists in addition to other calls for service. The Firefighters have responded to homes with flooded cellars, handled medical emergency calls with our Paramedics who also deserve thanks, checked on downed power lines, fallen trees, and conducted a drafting operation on Rolling Lane in an attempt to help save some ot he residences in that area. The Police Department and its Officers have assisted with traffic control, helped disabled motorists who became stranded in flood waters, provided directions for motorist seeking alternate routes in addition to their normal calls for service. DPW personnel set up barricades and detour signage as needed, cleared clogged catchbasins to help alleviate flooding conditions, removed fallen trees from roadways, and assisted with operation of the Pelham Island Road Shuttle.

Boston Duck Tours, Tthe Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and the Wayland School Department and the Bus Drivers also deserve recogntion for providing vehicles for the Pelham Island Road Shuttle. "Old Gloria," the Duck Boat provided residents with a unique opportunity to view the flooding. In addition, MassHighway was of great assistance in providing barriers and signage as needed to route motorists away from flooded areas.

Again, Thank-You for your great work !!
