The Kids to Kids Initiative of Infante Sano will be hosting a Sports Carnival on Sunday, October 4

Wayland, MA — September 30, 2009 – The Kids to Kids Initiative of Infante Sano will be hosting a Sports Carnival on Sunday, October 4th, from 2 – 5 P.M. at Cochituate Field in Wayland, MA. The Carnival will be fun for the whole family, with sports-themed games including a three-legged race, a home run derby and a lacrosse accuracy challenge, among others. The event has been planned and organized by kids and all proceeds from the day will benefit Kids to Kids projects serving youth in underserved communities around the world. In case of rain, the event will take place at the Wayland Town Building Gym.

Kids to Kids was founded in 2005 when four kids from a Boston suburb took a trip to the Dominican Republic and realized the simple but profound differences in their own lives compared to kids in under-resourced communities. Wanting to help, they created Kids to Kids, an initiative through which community leaders from the Dominican Republic, Belize, El Salvador and Costa Rica can apply for small grants to address unmet needs in their communities. Since 2008 Kids to Kids has awarded 81 micro-grants, totaling over $35,000 in support of new art, sports, and educational projects for kids.

In order to raise the funds for these micro-grants, Kids to Kids taps into the energy and potential of youth worldwide. A high school soccer team in Connecticut organized a “Fall Olympics” to raise money for a girls’ soccer team in Belize. Similarly, a group of dedicated kids in Australia raised money to support a community library in the Dominican Republic. By organizing their own creative fundraisers, kids develop valuable skills in mobilizing their communities to give back. By supporting a project abroad, they learn about different cultures and the importance of global citizenship.

Come join us for a day of sports fun and fabulous prizes, all in support of an inspiring group of kids as they work to raise money for art, sports, environmental and educational projects for kids around the world!
