Board of Selectmen Meeting, Thursday, July 30

Just a brief reminder that the Board of Selectmen will not meet this evening due to vacation conflicts, but will instead meet on Thursday, July 30th at 7:00 p.m.  While the agenda will not be finalized until late Tuesday afternoon, I expect it include:

  • A review of the liquor license application for 131 Main Street.  The owners of the building formerly occupied by Grape Ideas is seeking a beer and wine license for the same location.
  • A liquor license violation hearing for the VFW.  The post is accused of selling alcoholic beverages to minors during a routine compliance check.
  • The Board will hold a preliminary discussion on a sex offender bylaw proposed by Police Chief Bob Irving.  Modeled after a bylaw approved by Southborough’s town meeting and a review by the Attorney General, it would prohibit certain registered sex offenders from living within 1000 feet of schools, park or recreational facilities, childcare centers, homes for the mentally challenged, and elder care facilities.  Selectmen will begin discussion on the concept and consider whether to include in the fall special town meeting warrant such a bylaw.
  • Selectmen will also consider candidates for appointment to various town boards and committees; receive an update on the permitting process for the Town Center development; and meet in executive session to discuss pending litigation.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room, first floor of the Town Building.

NOTE:  The Board of Selectmen will meet during the month of August on Monday, the 17th and Monday, the 31st.
