    Default The cost of elections

Three weeks ago today, there was a special election, followed by Town Meeting in Wayland.
    Today, was the Senate election.

Obviously, it would have been cheaper for Wayland residents if our local election was held on the same day as the state election.
What was the cost of holding these two elections separately and why was it done this way?

I believe that it was at the request of the Town Clerk. I think it had something to do with the complications of the multiple primary ballots, but I am not sure.

My understanding was also that the Town Clerk had requested two separate elections.
