Preview of Board of Selectmen Meeting, Monday, June 8

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday evening, June 8, at Town Building.  Among the agenda items to be discussed:

o  Selectmen will review the list of individuals whose terms as members of boards and commissions expire on June 30th, including those who have decided to end their service.  Discussion on the timing of a vote on reappointment of those interested in continuing service will follow.  The board will interview candidates for appointment to the vacancy on the Finance Committee on June 15th, as well as interview members of the FinComm, Zoning Board of Appeals and Conservation Commission seeking reappointment.  A list of board and committee vacancies (including expiring members) is posted on the town’s website at http://www.wayland.ma.us/selectmen/board_vacancies.htm

o  The board will discuss a draft schedule of proposed summer meeting dates.  Selectmen have traditionally reduced their weekly meetings and moved to an abbreviated schedule during the summer months.

o  Town Administrator Fred Turkington will update selectmen on regional collaboration efforts, the state budget, municipal aid, and municipal reform legislation, and Town Building improvements.

o  The Historic District Commission will return to discuss potential terms of a certificate of hardship for the list of traffic improvements for the Town Center development.  HDC members have advocated linking construction of certain needed traffic improvements to development of a significant portion of the retail space.  Deferral of some improvements would require modification to the development agreement and some previously approved permits for the project.

o  Selectmen will elect a chair and vice-chair/clerk to lead the board effective July 1st.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.
