Saturday, June 20, Wayland Theater Alumni Workshop, Wayland High School Little Theater, 7:30pm

A group of 20 to 30 Wayland High School alumni will return to their alma mater to present an original work of theater. This performance will mark the culmination of a three-day workshop involving many generations of Wayland High students, from the Class of 2005 to the Class of 1989.  This first-ever Theater Alumni Workshop is a collaboration between drama teacher Richard Weingartner and a number of his former students.  Ranging from their early 20s to their late 30s, the workshop participants are involved – both as vocation and as avocation – in fields that stem from formative experiences as actors in the Little Theater. Participants include teachers, Web designers, artists, poets, songwriters, documentary filmmakers, social workers, and, yes, even actors and directors. Participating alumni will begin the workshop on Thursday, June 18 with a short original performance piece. In the course of three days, the actors will collaborate in weaving these individual pieces into a narrative tapestry to be presented on Saturday night.  The workshop performance will take place in Wayland High School’s Little Theater. The organizers welcome the community to come and share in this free event.
