Community Organizing Workshop Sunday June 7, 1-5 pm at First Parish, Framingham

Every wonder what community organizers really do? What their "actual responsibilities" are?

MICAH, (Metropolitan Interfaith Congregations Acting for Hope) the Metrowest community improvement organization will hold an inter-active community organizing workshop open to all on Sunday, June 7, from 1 to 5 pm, at the First Parish Unitarian-Universalist Church of Framingham, in the church hall, 24 Vernon Road. The workshop will cover what community organizing really is, how it differs from others ways to make the world a better place, and what you can do to be part of this work. Since we have a former community organizer in the White House, more people want to learn about community organizing. The session is open to all.

Michael Jacoby Brown, MICAH’s director will lead the session, with a faith reflection by Rabbi Greg Litcofsky of Congregation Shir Tikva in Wayland. Brown, the author of a recent book on community organizing, Building Powerful Community Organizations (Long Haul Press, 2007), has over 30 years experience in community organizing. Please RSVP. Free child-care and translation into Spanish and Portuguese is available with 4 days notice. Please call: 617 645 0226, or email: Michael Brown

There is a $5 suggested donation for MICAH members, and a $10 suggested donation for all others. No one will be turned away for inability to pay. All are welcome.
