Default flu shots , number required

Does anyone know if there will be separate flu shots required for at least two different types of viruses this year ? At one point the media reported that one might need two separate shots for Swine flue itself and maybe another shot later for another type.

You might try our Board of Health. They would know. Then you could post the reply up here. Evidently, older people are not at high risk, so we may not be the first priority for town-sponsored immunization. Will look forward to hearing what you find out.

    Default Flu shots status -BOH

The Wayland Board of Health is in the process of making a newsrelease which will give the dates for the annual seasonal flu clinics. They are: Tuesday October 6th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on October 15th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM- all clinics are at the Town Building Hearing Room.
Also the BOH says there will be additional vaccine for the H1N1 Swine flu (two shots about a month apart) at a date to be specified after the state informs the BOH, most likely after the normal flu dates above. These shots will be given out based on a criteria provided by the Mass Dept. of Public Health. Fortunately, Seniors are not the highest risk for H1N1 so they will be lower down on the list. Suggest that you stay in touch with COA, the BOH and the local media such as Wayland Enews, Town Crier. COA already has in place notices regarding the above dates and the Town BOH is doing everything possible to make sure people are informed and will get the flu shots they need.

    Default one H1N1, one seasonal

The H1N1 and seasonal flu shots are not combined so one needs one shot of each. Early on there was some thought that H1N1 would require two shots for children but I believe at this point even for children it's one H1N1 shot. Or if you are healthy, not pregnant and between 2 and 49 years of age you can do the H1N1 with flumist.
