In Boston suburbs, a wave of young farmers

Boston Globe 5/3/09: In Boston suburbs, a wave of young farmers. In the 1980s it was the roller rink. In the 1990s it was the mall. These days, small community-supported farms are the cool place for suburban youths – and oftentimes their parents – to hang out. Local farms report a boom in educational programs for younger children and job applications from teens, who say they would prefer to get their hands dirty in soil than take a weekend job in a store or restaurant.
