Preview of Board of Selectmen Meeting for Monday, May 4

A preview of Monday’s Board of Selectmen Meeting from Town Administrator Fred Turkington: 

The Board of Selectmen will hold a regular meeting on Monday (May 4) at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting will begin with an update by the Board of Health and Public Health Nurse Ruth Mori on the status of the swine flu outbreak and the state and local precautionary response.  For information in the interim, visit our website at http://www.wayland.ma.us/boh/index.htm and select items from the right side of the screen. 

At 7:15 pm, the Board will conduct a public hearing on the installation of a gas line and service structures in Concord Road at Waltham Road.   

Town Administrator Fred Turkington will provide a status report on the state budget, including state aid, use of Federal stimulus funding for school improvement, and action on the Governor’s municipal reform package.  He will also give an update on the selection process for a director of public works and brief the Board on plans for discussing Septage facility issues the following evening with Sudbury. 

About 8:30 p.m., members of the Wastewater Management District Commission will meet with selectmen to review the status of the design of the new facility, as well as the bidding and construction schedule; allocation of plant flows among users; project finances; and the status of permits. 

On Tuesday, May 5th, there will be a joint meeting of the Sudbury and Wayland Boards of Selectmen and the Wayland-Sudbury Septage Committee at 7:30 p.m. in the Flynn Building, 278 Old Sudbury Road in Sudbury.  WayCAM will tape the meeting for future broadcast.  The committees will review the status of the facility and recommendations for complying with the DEP enforcement letter of March 10, 2009.  The groups will also review the intermunicipal agreement and discuss changes necessary to implement the plan for Sudbury to assume responsibility for financial management. 

The meeting agendas, correspondence list, consent calendar, and list of public records provided to the Board since the April 27th meeting will be posted on the Town’s website by 12 noon Monday.
