The Wayland Historical Society is offering a tour of one of Cochituate’s oldest houses – the Isaac Damon House.  The house is located at 357 Commonwealth Road, and parking will be in the lot of the Celebration International Church, across the street.  Constructed around 1765, the house remained in the Damon family for almost 200 years. The Damons were prominent members of the community throughout that time. It is a fine example of a house which has grown and changed with the times. It was renovated in the 19th and 20th centuries, but the 18th century house can still be seen. In recent years, The Yankee Craftsman store has been located on the premises.  Following the tour, we will reconvene at the Historical Society’s headquarters at the Grout-Heard House Museum, 12 Cochituate Road (across the railroad tracks from the library parking lot). There will be an exhibit and talk on the Damon family by Pauline DiCesare, a longtime neighbor who has extensively researched the house and the family. Refreshments will be served.
