An exceptional concert of traditional Irish tunes and original acoustic music will be presented by The Kerry Boys – a Celtic Trio on Friday, February 27 at Hudson Town Hall, 78 Main Street, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Snow date is Sunday, March 1 at 3:30 p.m.

The top musician/songwriters sing and play humorous classics, engaging ballads and sentimental sea songs on a variety of instruments including guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo and harmonica. Known for superb finger-style guitar work and a smooth, expressive voice, Pierce Campbell is a versatile songwriter and entertaining musician who has released five solo CD’s, as well as three CD’s with the Kerry Boys. When he and his bass player Tony Pasqualoni performed at Hudson Town Hall’s charming auditorium last February, they got the audience up on their feet and singing. This year’s performance will feature the welcome addition of County Kerry native Mark James, who has played for more than 15 years with Campbell.

Tickets at the door cost $12 for adults and $9 for students and seniors. If ordered in advance, seats are only $10 and $7. To order, call the Arts Alliance at 978-562-1646 or visit:  www.upwitharts.org.  Special group rates are available when arranged in advance. Refreshments will be available during intermission. Hudson Town Hall is located near the rotary in downtown Hudson where there is plenty of free parking and easy wheelchair accessibility.

Pierce Campbell was the 2007-08 Connecticut State Troubadour. The state of Connecticut established this ambassadorship position in 1991. It encourages cultural literacy and promotes the state. There are only two states that bestow this honor on an accomplished performer who has great musical and songwriting ability, as well as experience with diverse audiences.

Mark James is originally from County Kerry, Ireland, but now resides in Cheshire, Connecticut. For over 15 years he has played in an engaging duet with Pierce Campbell. Like Campbell, James is a strong vocalist and instrumentalist capable of getting the audience to join in with clapping and dancing. Frequently enjoyed at Irish festivals, the Kerry Boys belong to the Connecticut Commission on the Arts. They “sing pristine harmonies rarely heard anymore.”

The versatile bassist, Tony Pasqualoni, performed with Campbell last March at Hudson Town Hall. He has played not only with the Kerry Boys, but with several other groups.

The songs this group sings are of love, life, hope, despair, and good laughs.  The live performances receive much praise from people of all ages. For an early St. Patrick’s Day treat, bring friends and family to enjoy an unforgettable cultural performance, part of the Arts Alliance’s Community Arts Series.
