Preview of the Monday, November 2 Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will convene at Monday evening (November 2) in Town Building.

The Board will discuss the information provided by residents of the new Oxbow Meadows affordable housing development. A group of neighbors had pressed for relief beyond the discount reflective of the sale price of the units substantially below fair market value in presenting information on supplemental property tax relief programs in Brookline, Newton and Wellesley. However, a review of the rules in these communities showed that some had adopted a residential exemption for owner-occupied units (not unlike the $100,000 residential exemption included in the CPA by some towns). None reserached provided any targeted residential tax relief to affordable homes. The group from Oxbow Road have been invited to attend.

Selectmen will also receive an update from the Nike Site Reuse Advisory Committee regarding details for installation of the trail around the passive recreation site, including layout and estimate construction cost and timetable.

Members of the Board will also consider an amendment to their policy manual reflecting the findings contained in the report to Town Meeting relative to recognizing citizens for extensive service to the Town.

The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room.
