I hope this is an appropriate topic for this forum.

I am wondering what happened to cause the Wayland water rates to increase so dramatically this year, and why town residents were not notified of the new rates other than by fiat on their water bills?

Dwight M. Scott's letter to the Editors in the 5/22 Town Crier (2nd letter here: http://www.wickedlocal.com/wayland/a...-to-the-editor) provides more information. He shows for one usage pattern (a low usage pattern at that) an increase in billing of more than 71%.

As a relatively new town resident (3 years) I am also wondering how rates have increased historically, and if anyone has to approve these increases.

I have been unable to find any information on line or in news sources.
Any insights appreciated.
