  •  Tax Time Again. April 15th will soon be here. From February 5 through the end of March, our AARP Tax Preparation volunteers will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays to help low to moderate income seniors with their state and federal income tax returns. Call to sign up for an appointment.
  • My Life, My Health – 15 Hours to a Better Life. Starts Wednesday, February 18, 6 weeks, 10am-12:30pm, Free. Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? This FREE workshop was developed and tested by Stanford University and has been proven to help people with chronic health conditions lead happier, healthier lives. The 6 week series will help you set and meet personal goals, make informed decisions on treatment options, increase energy level, decrease pain and stress, and identify simple techniques to improve the quality of your life. Pre-registration is required; register early. Note: This program has been made possible through a grant from the Metrowest Community Healthcare Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation.
  • Soup’s On! Wednesday, February 25, $2. This month we’re asking people to bring in any photos or memorabalia from the ‘good old days’ in Wayland. It should make for some fun discussions!
  • Tai Chi with Robin Natanel. Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30, Hearing Room. FEE: $5 each Wednesday in Feb. Starting in March, the fee will be $20/month, payable prior to the start of the month. The fee will not change even if there are 5 Wednesdays in a month. Learn to use the Tai Chi form to increase your physical balance and "sense" of balance. Tai Chi allows you to physically, mentally and emotionally feel YOUR flow aligning with the flow of nature. The class begins with music and meditation, some Qi Qong breathing techniques, Temple exercises for flexible joints and strength, then the Tai Chi form itself. Class adapts to the participant’s individual needs. Tai Chi can lower blood pressure, improve balance and reduce pain. Class open to non-seniors.
  • Lois’ Fit for the Future, Tuesday & Thursday, 10-11am, Hearing Room, $2.00/class. Lois Leav, Instructor. Stretching, toning, aerobic fitness and weight work done to music. This class adapts to all fitness levels. Exercises can be modified to meet individual needs. Pay only when you come. This is enjoyable way to exercise and meet new people. No pre-registration required.
  • Chair Yoga with Anu Patolawala, CYI. Mondays, 1:30pm. Enjoy the benefits of this ancient healing art from a seated position. This is a great way to relieve stress while improving flexibility, strength coordination and balance. It combines gentle and invigorating postures, breathing and guided relaxation to relieve tension from the neck, shoulders, back and other areas of the body. This class adapts to all levels. No experience required. Next 4-week session starting March 2. $20 for 4 weeks.
  • Better Balance, Living Stronger. Instructor: Leslie Worris (Wellness Alliance). Using balls, bands, weights and incorporating yoga and tai chi, this class will help to improve, posture, flexibility, gait, mobility, stability, breath, endurance and maintain your independence.Learn strategies to avoid and prevent falls. Learn home and outdoor modifications to reduce falls. Decrease stress. Gain confidence and improve overall quality of life.Pre- registration is required no less than one week before classes start. We cannot pro-rate the class fee for missed classes. Classes build on each other so participants may not join mid-session. The NEXT 4 week session starts: Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. Class is held in the Hearing Room from 10:15-11:15a, with the exception of Feb. 27 (1pm-2pm).
  • Need Transportation? Call the MWRTA "Dial-A-Ride" at 508-820-4650. Door to door, shared van service is provided to Wayland residents 65 years of age or older, disabled of any age, or Wayland residents 60-65years of age who have used Wayland COA van service in the past year.
